Sometimes life ends up not as we planned it. We get overwhelmed, and those little things we used to stay on top of aren't so important anymore. We are stressed and in survival mode, just trying to make it through one more day without breaking down. A death in the family, being a primary caretaker, divorce, or depression can derail our best intentions for a peaceful home.
Our client in Yarmouth had recently gone through a divorce and was the primary caretaker of three children under the age of 11. They found themselves stressed and overwhelmed and called Peaceful Place for help organizing their entire house.
Getting the kids organized was top on this client's list. We first assessed the playrooms, worked with the client to create goals for the room and discussed how the items in the room are used. Next, Team Peace got to work sorting like items; games, Barbie, American Girl, Legos, other toys, and books. Once everything was sorted, our client edited the toys and decided what they were keeping, throwing away, or donating. Finally, during the re-homing process, we worked with the client to put everything back they were keeping into place so that items were visible, accessible, and easy to put back. Labeled bins for doll clothes keeps everything organized and easy to find. Happy kids = a less stressed parent, which is a win for our client!
(We must admit we enjoy organizing doll clothes as much as people clothes.)
